Cohort I- Women in Business

Women make up to 52% of the labour force and are an important talent to help Uganda meet its development goals especially in entrepreneurship and micro, small and medium enterprises growth. However, it is generally known that women face more challenges than men in starting, managing, and growing their enterprises as they are more likely to be impeded by a lack of the necessary capacities, skills and resources. They are more disadvantaged than men due to legal impediments and others.

We consider the most critical phase of a business initiative, as the one following the idea formation, when it is poised for growth and as such ADC intends to attract women led businesses getting out of ideation phase to offer a business acceleration opportunity, through a journey of agreed milestones, which should enable these enterprises to sustain their operations and attract markets and funding.

Accelerators can help young companies expedite their growth and scale their business models, and as such ADC hereby extends a call to build the capacity of women led Agribusinesses to validate their Business models, understand their strategic business positioning better as well as their operating environment and how to manage growth for relevant linkages and self-sufficiency.


The invitation goes out to Women led agribusinesses who meet the following criteria:

  • Primarily, Women led Agribusinesses that have gone through the Women in Business (WIB) program at dfcu Bank in the recent past
  • A registered Agribusiness in Uganda;
  • Must have an account in dfcu bank or willing to open this account;
  • Must be a for profit entity or in support of profit-making women agribusinesses;
  • Have an annual turnover range of UGX 600M to UGX3.6bn
  • Be operational with a verified product or service.

  • Networking opportunities and learning visits to experts in varied fields.
  • Access to business reports, journals and relevant enterprise specific magazines.
  • Linkages to affordable financial services.

Application submission

Eligible candidates should submit their applications by filling in form available on the website and provide the following information/documents:

  • Valid identity documents (Certificate of incorporation, TIN Number, Valid License for operation, Export/Import permits where applicable IDs of key proprietors).
  • Financial statements for the last two years.
  • Business model validation.
  • Attach a business plan where available.
  • Applications that are incomplete or do not have mandatory fields, as well as required attachments, will be declared inadmissible. Applications can be submitted from Thursday 16th of May 2022 to Thursday 16th of June 2022, 23:59 (EAT).
